The University of Calgary embarked on the major scholarship project in 2018 with the goal of enhancing the student experience; reducing program and Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) administrative hours; improving adjudication and selection; and increasing data quality and capability to audit the process.

Through a single application, students can apply for multiple internal and provincial awards; request references and upload documents online. UCalgary transcripts are automatically generated while external transcripts, references and additional documents are managed as Checklist items. Students can track their application progress through the Student Centre. Administrative hours have been greatly reduced with the capability to carry over some of the work to future applications. Adjudicators are assigned to 1,400 applications in minutes based on configurable rules and access the applications and score online through the Faculty Centre.

This presentation will describe the functionality behind the application and identify successes as well as challenges and solutions.
