The Office of Admissions and the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) (http://www.care.fsu.edu/) has recognized the need for a new CARE affiliation. This Affiliation will be used to identify applicants disadvantaged by virtue of educational and socioeconomic reasons and provide equity and access to those who qualify. This new project is part of a larger initiative to replace our legacy process with an activity guide based web application. Currently, the process of reviewing CARE applicants is manual and cumbersome. The implementation of a CARE affiliation, together with the activity guide, streamlined the process for both applicants and administrative users. The initial assignment of the CARE affiliation code is dependent on the applicant indicating interest in the CARE program on the Admissions application. The CARE affiliation code is assigned though the AAWS.By virtue of having the active CARE affiliation, the applicant is granted access to the CARE activity guide. Using the activity guide the applicant completes the necessary information which allows the Administrative user to review (Via WorkCenter) and determine the candidates who qualify for this program. The combination of these features reduces future maintenance effort as well as puts more control in the hands of administrative users.
