The implementation of this envisaged solution will eliminate a lot manual tasks related to the management and tracking of PG milestones. The staff members from the faculties will no longer have to update the milestones manually as this will be done automatically though the inbound interface from IMS through the workflow process. The milestone status will be updated automatically on SIMS (Student Management Information System) when HOS (Head of School) clicks the approve button. A link or screen will be created on student self-service portal to enable students to upload and submit documents such proposals and their research report or thesis online. Supervisors will immediately receive email notification when their students make such submission online. Supervisors will also be able to review and approve documents (proposal and research report) online through the workflow process. Once a milestone is approved by a supervisor, an email notification will be sent to HOS (Head of School)/ PGO (Postgraduate Officer at the faculty office). When the HOS/PGO approves the milestone status will automatically be updated to achieve on SIMS. The PG milestone will enable student and supervisors to complete progress report online.
