In June, 2006 the Technical Advisory Group published “The Roadmap from PeopleSoft to Oracle Fusion for Large Higher Education Institutions” whitepaper. That paper suggested a seven step process that large higher education institutions can use to help them prepare for the eventual implementation of Fusion Applications. This paper outlines one school’s attempt to follow several steps of that process and provides several “lessons learned” that other institutions should consider. The target audience for this paper is information technology professionals in larger institutions of higher education who believe that Oracle’s Fusion technology or applications will play some role in the future of their enterprise. We intend for this to be a resource in their tactical PeopleTools and Fusion Middleware (FMW) planning. The topics of interest that we have tried to cover include:o The step by step process laid out in the Oracle Fusion Roadmap whitepaper and how the University of Michigan adhered to and deviated from it. o The University of Michigan’s experience with the FMW technical architecture components and future plans for leveraging them.o Lessons learned from the implementation
