At the University of Queensland, Campus Solutions staff user security was redesigned/rebuilt as part of our upgrade to CS8.9. Since then the basic model had not been revised. A security review was undertaken as part of the preparation for our upgrade to CS9.2. The review revealed a complex web of security roles and permission lists, which had metastasised over time. What did UQ do?

We decided to take a pragmatic approach to staff user security. The existing structure, which had become more complex over time, was judged to be significantly riskier than implementing a totally new and far simpler approach to staff user security.

This session will explain the new security structure and how we rolled it out as part of the upgrade to CS9.2.
