Good afternoon Conference Paul, it does feel like an age, though so good to hear from you!
There was a Global Council call last week during which Jasper Faber raised the idea of discussing the current critical patches for Campus Solutions and understanding how different institutions are responding. The intention is to try and organise a community webinar on this topic. Nikki Gaertner Eaton, who was also on the call, commented that this is the type of discussion that the TRAG would have possibly facilitated in the past. Hopefully, there will be an opportunity in the near future for colleagues across the community to come together and share their experiences and approaches.
In the meantime, I can confirm that Queen's University Belfast has taken a very proactive approach. We took our production environment offline on Thursday 11 June, which coincided with our results publication deadline (far from ideal) and indicative of the seriousness with which the situation was viewed, especially given the significant impact at such a critical time of year.
For the subsequent patch, we also took all test environments and production systems offline outside of core business hours, from 6.00 pm to 7.00 am, as an additional security precaution after completing WebLogic and Java updates until the further Oracle patch could be completed.
We can of course discuss QUB's approach in more detail and equally I would be happy to participate in a UK specific discussion if you feel that would be beneficial:)
Again, it is great to hear from you!
