    Hello HEUG Community,

I'm transitioning into a role where I will be working with PeopleSoft Financial Aid, and my background up to this point has been primarily with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid. I'm reaching out to see if anyone who has worked with both systems could share insights or point me toward helpful resources.

    I'm especially interested in:

    • Key differences between Banner and PeopleSoft from a Financial Aid standpoint
    • Recommended training materials, documentation, or HEUG resources
    • Tips for learning PeopleSoft's structure, terminology, and navigation
    • Common challenges you encountered when making this switch

Any advice or resources would be greatly appreciated as I work to build my PeopleSoft knowledge base.

    Thank you,

    Welcome Kyle.

I would highly recommend the HEUG Financial Aid listserv.   Financial Aid - Thrive HEUG    There is no shortage of discussions, knowledge sharing , and fun in that listserv.

Last month there was a webinar Introduction to Financial Aid for Technical Folks  this can give you a sense of Financial Aid processing in PS

There is a monthly FA Coffee Hour – except this month -  which actively discusses FA processing.

These are all recorded sessions and can also be found in the E-Academy On Demand area and the corresponding powerpoints and conversations are all in the FA listserv above.

This was thread from November:  FA Coffee Hour - November 2025 Follow-up | Financial Aid

To Register for FA Coffee Hours – This should put a recurrence on your calendar when you receive the email back.   Financial Aid Coffee Break

I also came from a Banner school and about 8 months in learning PS. Stay in PS as much as possible, navigate the menus for your brain to connect the PS naming convention with FA processes. In PS there are gazillion tables---lol....there is no RPAAWRD, RORSTAT, RNANAXX etc, pop selection and NULL differs too. Navigate as much as possible with the menus-don't try to translate Banner to PS (you'll end up frustrated). Have patience with yourself, you'll get accustomed to the mouse/clicking, but you'll grow to love PS like I have.
