Enhancing PeopleSoft Process Scheduler Visibility with a PeopleTools-Native Operational Intelligence

Reliable batch processing is fundamental to PeopleSoft ERP operations. Payroll, Human Capital Management, Finance, Student Administration, reporting, integrations, and other mission-critical business functions depend on Process Scheduler executing workloads correctly and on time. While Process Monitor and delivered monitoring capabilities remain essential, many organizations also rely on administrator experience, SQL scripts, email notifications, and manual review to understand whether scheduled processes are operating as expected. This session shares the Virginia Community College System’s experience evaluating PS-CARE( PeopleSoft Continuity Automation & Resilience Engine), a PeopleTools-native framework designed to enhance ERP operational intelligence by providing lifecycle-aware visibility into PeopleSoft Process Scheduler behavior. The presentation discusses the operational challenges that led to the evaluation, the structured non-production technical evaluation approach, implementation architecture, governance considerations, and lessons learned. It also explains how PS-CARE complements delivered Process Monitor capabilities by providing additional operational context for Process Scheduler behavior without modifying delivered PeopleSoft objects. Attendees will learn how a PeopleTools-native approach can strengthen ERP operational intelligence by improving operational visibility, supporting earlier detection of selected Process Scheduler conditions, enhancing operational traceability, and providing meaningful operational metrics for ERP support teams and technical leadership. The session focuses on practical evaluation experience and implementation considerations that other PeopleSoft ERP organizations can use when assessing approaches to improving operational reliability and operational intelligence within their own environments.
