I also came from a Banner school and about 8 months in learning PS. Stay in PS as much as possible, navigate the menus for your brain to connect the PS naming convention with FA processes. In PS there are gazillion tables---lol....there is no RPAAWRD, RORSTAT, RNANAXX etc, pop selection and NULL differs ...
