On the final day of the Alliance Conference in Nashville, the HEUG Board of Directors met to wrap up one year and kick off a new one. We were able to recognize several long-serving Board members and thank them for their contributions and friendship. We were also thrilled to be able to welcome our newest members to the Board http://www.heug.org/p/bl/ar/blogaid=908. We spent quite a bit of time at our meeting on our annual Alliance conference debrief. Each Board member spoke with hundreds of attendees and sponsors throughout the week, and this was our opportunity to share all of the feedback with the conference team. The highlights of the week included annual events:
- HEUG Advisory Group Summit, during which nearly 200 advisory group members met with over 50 product strategists from Oracle for two intensive days to bring the voice of our membership to bear. If your institution is not yet represented on an advisory group, I highly recommend pursuing it.
- Executive Forum, with keynotes from industry thought leaders and discussions with Oracle executives.
- Alliance conference itself, with over 400 sessions, including member presentations, sponsor demos, and Oracle product road maps.
- Business meeting & annual report presentation.
With over 400 attendees joining us from outside of the US (from 24 countries!), special events for young professionals, volunteer recognition events, and abundant translations of content into several languages, the Alliance conference was a demonstration of the health of the HEUG -- well positioned to continue to be successful into the next generation of industry leadership and beyond.
