Global Community: Organizing an International Working Group

HEUG is made up of over 18,000 individuals from over 900 campuses in 28 countries. We are truly a global organization. One key initiative we have been planning since last year is an international working group, which will provide an opportunity for HEUG to reach all of our communities around the world.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a pilot program in which a group of international liaisons will be chosen to serve on a working group charged with facilitating the flow of information from the HEUG to the represented regions/communities, identifying those topics within the scope of the HEUG that are of broad interest globally, identifying opportunities to improve and enhance communication within the global community, and making recommendations to the board in response to specific questions related to global community building.

This group will be made up of up to four representatives from each of the following regions: Asia Pacific (APAC), Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), Latin America (LA), and North America (NA). The HEUG Board of Directors recently endorsed the specifics of this program, recruiting is happening right now, and an organizational meeting (in the form of a conference call) will likely take place by mid-summer.

We will also hold an in person meeting for those members of the group attending Oracle Open World in September of this year. If you would like to nominate yourself or a peer to serve on this working group, by all means contact me.

As always, if you have comments or questions, post them to the comments section below.
