The HEUG Board of Directors congregated in Redwood Shores, California December 2-4 for their winter meeting. This year’s meeting was very productive and allowed the board a full day (Thursday, December 2) of interaction with Oracle Executives. The following topics were reviewed and discussed:

  • Oracle Application Strategy for Higher Ed
       o Campus Solutions
       o Applications Unlimited
o Fit for Managed Services and Cloud Computing
  • Strategy for Fusion – conversation with Steve Miranda

The board also had the opportunity to participate in discussion regarding CRM, BI & Reporting and E-Business Suite.
On Friday and Saturday the board went to work on administrative business of the HEUG. A lengthy discussion around the regionalization of communities in the HEUG led to the agreement to work on piloting several regional user group conferences in North America and to continue to move forward with relationships internationally with the Australia/New Zealand HEUG, HEUG Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) and the newest community forming in Singapore.

The HEUG board also formalized the election of Kari Branjord, University of Colorado, to her second year as HEUG President.
A significant amount of time was also spent finalizing HEUG by-laws and standing orders to make them compliant with legal counsel and to reflect the changes in membership and voting brought on by the new business model.
The meeting was adjourned Saturday at about 11:00 am.
