A drilling URL is a PS Query expression type that can be used to ‘drill down’ to other objects, specifically in this case, another query. Why would you want to drill down to another query rather than simply including the other query’s information in this query? Perhaps not every unique value, be it a student, staff member, or customer, may have values that exist in the other query; or perhaps they have multiple. There are ways to include multiple values of a field in one field in your query, but another way to accomplish this is to drill down to that other query for the specific student, staff member, or customer of interest. Add an expression of ...

The university I work at is currently in the middle of implementation on a new CRM. We are moving from Radius to Slate. This process has been ongoing since early March with several weekly meetings. Meetings on Tuesday with the entire system, where we as Slate superusers or the implementation team have the opportunity to bring up issues we have faced, look to others within the system for potential solutions, or provide updates on the implementation process. As the event person for my university and the top superuser for CRM this experience has been a challenge, each of us are learning the CRM at the same time. This can be a challenge when I run into an issue ...

When I was getting my Ph.D., I taught college courses for five years. While I was ostensibly the subject expert in the room, each student in each course brought their own interpretations and perceptions about Modernist poetry or Victorian novels or Elizabethan-era tragedies. Their insights - surprising, poignant, useful - almost always impacted the way that I thought about the texts and how I taught those courses for future students. That experience of collaborating with students is one of the reasons I advocated for creation of a student-focused advisory group, which we kicked off with the Oracle Student Financial Planning (SFP) Advisory Group last year. ...

The irony of summertime in higher education is that while the rest of the world has a chance to partake in a few lazy days by the pool or perhaps an extended vacation with the family, we in higher education are oftentimes wrapping up one of our busiest times of year. Summertime is when our finance folks are finishing up fiscal year end. And our student and human resources colleagues are gearing up for the beginning of the academic year, and all those new hires that come along with it. No matter which area you are in, you are probably involved in some major project that has a tag line of, “that would be good to do over the summer.” There is good news though ...

Did you know (DYK) - July 2022 Within the Office of Student Financial Aid Services (OSFAS) at the University of Connecticut, it was observed that despite very similar criteria, communications often necessitated multiple 3C queries to generate the population selection. In many cases the only difference would be a separate letter code required due to header/footers and/of information for specific groups of students. OSFAS endeavored to reduce such redundancies, thereby alleviating 3C query maintenance by focusing on prompt driven queries for run controls to supplant the need for multiple 3C queries in many cases. Below are two of the methods the office ...
