During its PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) Version 9.2 Upgrade, the University of Alberta (UofA) moved from a custom “Payroll to General Ledger interface” to the delivered Manage Commitment Accounting for actuals distribution. The UofA required a means of redistributing salary and benefit actuals accounting details while meeting audit and compliance requirements leveraging delivered processes and records. PeopleSoft’s delivered Direct Retro processing has limitations that did not make it a good candidate for distributed deployment of redistribution functionality. The UofA built a bolt-on front end that leverages delivered Direct Retro functionality to process the accounting changes maintaining a transaction history to the original paycheque . This session will speak to the purpose and features of this functionality and will identify challenges including how they were handled.
