Advising Notes: Building a Student Story

11-12-2018 06:31 PM

This presentation will summarize a project undertaken by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, a medium sized institution where student advising occurs across multiple units. With minimal customization, NAIT implemented Advising Notes as a system of tracking student / staff interactions. This system provides consistent data entry, advising statistics, and a complete summary of all student advising activities. Advising notes can even reduce the number of enterprise systems used within an institution. NAIT replaced the Microsoft Customer Relationship Management application with Advising Notes.

The presenters will discuss the goals and outcomes of the project, Advising Notes as delivered, customizations, recommended reports, and tips on getting “buy-in” from all the key stakeholders. Come learn how to build a complete student story and get all staff on the same page.

Learning Objectives:
• After this presentation, attendees will be able to explain the use of Advising Notes as delivered.
• After this presentation, attendees will be able recognize the benefit of Advising Notes customizations and reporting tools.
• After this presentation, attendees will be able to summarize the NAIT approach used to obtain staff "buy-in" throughout this project.

This presentation was presented at Alliance 2017, and Unite 2018.
