Data is extremely valuable for organisations in improving decision making, supporting strategic business objectives, promoting organisational agility and preparedness. A well-established, quality assured, enterprise data warehouse is the backbone to creating value from organisational data held in disparate and disintegrated source systems. The quality of the enterprise warehouse lies in the quality of the underlying data marts design and data. The changes in the data mart source systems (due to enhancements, technology or application upgrades), with quick fixes on the BI side to address the source system changes, combined with insufficient change control process and the upgrading of the ETL toolset, has an impact on the data quality and integrity of the data warehouse. In this presentation, a data mart inspection checklist will be introduced that will be helpful in establishing the data warehouse quality and integrity.
