Wits University went live with the new marks system (Activity Management) on 01 Feb 2019. The project was completed after 7 months. The system require a lot configurations, setups and rules to manage student marks from tests, assignments to final marks .The activity registry provides a functionality for developing a generic or custom template which the institution users can use to create structures for their specific courses. Activity Management leverage on the rules engine built-in within campus solution. Some of the benefits include defining roles for different user access, calculating student marks based on the rules defined by the organisation, rolling over the structure of a course from one term to another. The challenges experienced during implementation so far has been on the slow response time for on big class. The IAM process that synchronised students from students to Activity Management took longer to run with big classes as well.
