USC's Data Hub has been created in response to the overwhelming need to provide identity data in real time to external systems. Rather than providing views or web services directly from identity systems such as PeopleSoft SIS and HR, a new Data Hub system has been created to act as an intermediary layer in order to provide the following benefits:
- To lighten the load on these SIS and HR systems.
- To provide a consistent and simple view of person information for students, staff members, persons of interest (POIs) and alumni.
- To provide audit information (e.g. creation_date, last_updated_date,etc.) for (1) subscribing systems wishing to perform incremental and full synchronisations, and (2) provisioning and de-provisioning systems to provision and de-provision user accounts accordingly.
