ePerformance has been in use at the University of Calgary since 2013. During a review of the ePerformance practice in 2017 , surveys and focus groups were conducted with our senior leaders, managers, and employees. The results were consistent; our managers and employees are frustrated with the status quo. Managers do not feel that the considerable time spent on traditional performance management activities improves employee performance, promotes collaboration or motivates their employees. Similarly, employees are often disengaged by the process. The message was clear: evolution was necessary. There were 3 goals for improving the ePerformance system: Streamline the review process, add Probation reviews into ePerformance, and make the administration of the process more efficient. These changes were crucial to the success of the new Connect to Perform philosophy, and were necessary for the inclusion of our bargaining unit staff that represented a 400% increase in documents managed.
