Overview
With a rapid shift towards instant notifications to students and applicants, SMS's play an increasingly important role as a notification channel throughout the student life cycle.

Prior to the Notification Framework, institutions requiring SMS notifications would do custom development, often restricted to a specific Campus Solutions function as required at the time of design / development.

The Notification Framework provides a generic framework that can be utilized throughout Campus Solutions. Apart from delivered triggers in the delivered product, batch notifications and triggers available in the Rules Engine can also be utilized to trigger these notifications.

The Notification Framework provides the construct to integrate to an SMS gateway. Minor development can utilize this to integrate the delivered Notification Framework to an SMS gateway to allow the use of SMS's as an alternative channel for communication to students/applicants.

The University of Cape Town will demonstrate how this integration between the Notification Framework and a SMS Gateway has been implemented, allowing the ability for SMS notifications to be sent throughout the system with minimal effort!
