Until 2019 Spring semester, the Course Evaluation process for gathering end-semester student feedback at Koc University was based on simple paper scan sheets. The traditional course evaluation method was an inconvenient process, which would take days and weeks to deliver and gather student feedback, as well as causes a minor environmental impact.

Koc University was looking into finding a solution to handle course evaluation process online. The new evaluation process needed to be / have

- User-friendly for all of the participants
- High response rates
- Time and money saver

After evaluating some possible solutions, Koc University decided to build its own custom course evaluation management module in Peoplesoft Campus Solutions. The course evaluation management module features

- Setting up questionnaires as desired.
- Create and manage the evaluation surveys. It supports multiple surveys per term.
- Fine-grained management of evaluated class instructors based on inclusion and exclusion of academic organizations, courses, instructor roles and course components.
- Give instructors the ability to start the evaluations at any time (say in the classroom) to ensure high response rates.
- Provide RESTful Web Services to gather and report course evaluation results.

Koc University offered all the course evaluation surveys online by using Koc custom evaluation manager in 2019 Spring semester. Students used Koc Mobile app to fill the surveys. All the expectations are fulfilled. It had a high response rates, time and money saved and was easy for all the participants.

You will also witness the hardships we went through during this project and the gain we obtained over the old paper-based course evaluation process.
