PS Query & SQL

As of when? It’s the most important question you can ask. Databases are like rivers. They’re always moving and changing, and their relevant data changes from minute to minute. Understanding how database software platforms use Date, Time, Effective Date, and Effective Sequence is critical to obtaining valid, accurate, and relevant information, both in functional operations and in queries and decision making. The primary focus of this course is Oracle HCM, PS Query, and SQL. However, the basic concepts directly relate to Oracle SIS. In this session, you will learn:

• How computers and HCM / SIS platforms “understand” and use Date & Time (what the computer is thinking)
• How that relates to you and your concept of date and time (what your bosses & customers are thinking)
• What “Effective Date” really is and why it’s absolutely critical to everything
• Effective Sequence and how/where it is used
• How all of the above are critical to data queries in both PS Query and SQL
• Common SQL operators that are used for manipulating date, time and Effective_Date/Sequence
• A few of my most useful query expressions (including the really sneaky ones!)
