With the constant pressure to do more with less we often find ourselves with small teams with specialist skillsets trying to deliver on a variety of initiatives in parallel and within short timeframes. This includes routine maintenance, upgrades and updates just to keep our systems stable and secure.

With this in mind UniSA decided to run a Proof of Concept exercise to see whether there were time saving benefits for their maintenance teams in running some (or all) of their PeopleSoft Campus Solutions instances on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). OCI was chosen as it offered the additional potential benefit of using PeopleSoft Cloud Manager.

Due to the complexity in shifting a fully integrated system to an OCI environment, and in order to complete the exercise as quickly as poissble, the PoC purely focused on maintenance benefits that could be assessed using a 'demo' install of Campus Solutions.

This presentation will outline the process we went through, our experience in establishing a Campus Solutions 'demo' environment in the cloud, our evaluation of the potential benefits and considerations applicable to a full environment move to OCI, and the lessons learned along the way.
