Learn more about Connected Query and BI Publisher at this year's Alliance!

When it comes to delivering dynamic reports in PeopleSoft, PS Connected Query and BI Publisher are the ultimate power couple. Connected Query ties multiple queries together, streamlining data extraction across related records. This means less manual setup, fewer data joins to manage, and a smoother path to rich, reliable reporting.

Here is the main point: You can create a set of linked, simple queries to collect data from multiple tables instead of creating a complicated query with multiple equal, outer joins, and grouping conditions. A single row of data from a parent query results in a set of rows in a child query. This data is processed row by row and produces structured data. And for an added bonus, you do not need to bug your programmers (if you have any that is) to create complex, non-sustainable SQRs!

If you want to learn more about connected query and BI Publisher, I encourage you to view the recording to a webinar I hosted back in April where we explored just how powerful this pairing can be—especially for automating and customizing reporting solutions without diving deep into complex coding. The webinar parked great discussions about ways to make report development simpler and smarter.

If you’re heading to the Alliance 2025 conference in Orlando, be sure to catch @Christopher Pokorny's upcoming session on this very topic. He’ll dive even deeper into Connected Query best practices and share fresh insights on taking BI Publisher reports to the next level.
