COMING UP – Conference Information

Preparations are well underway for Alliance 2018 in Salt Lake City (March 25-18). We are actively seeking submissions for sessions. Session submissions will only be open until October 13, 2017.  To submit your session proposal, all you need is the topic and summary information, but they should be as complete as possible. Get all the details by clicking here to go the Session Submission main page for Alliance 2018.

Not up for presenting? You can still contribute by posting suggestions for things you want to learn more about on our AA Community Forum. Click here to go directly to the “Topic Ideas for AA Track at Alliance” thread and add your two cents. We need to know what you want to know! What are the issues facing your institution or your workgroup?

Many regional and international conferences are coming up, too, including MIDHEUG October 12-13 in St. Charles, Illinois; EMEA October 16-17 in Barcelona, Spain; Alliance Down Under November 8-10 in Brisbane, Australia, and the first ever CHEUG November 5-7 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada .

MAKING A DIFFERENCE – Advisory Groups in Action

Advisory groups really do make a difference! A small group of AA track representatives responded to a survey last year volunteering to give input to Oracle on Advising Notes. Discussions on how Advising Notes are used, what prevents them from being used, and suggestions for improvements helped to direct the conversation. The results were compiled and given to our Oracle representative, David Larsen.  A sneak peek at new functionality and security improvements was presented at Alliance 17. For those unfamiliar with Advising Notes, check out the Feature Overview from Alliance 2015.

Thanks to those who contributed to the discussion!

MAKE A CONTRIBUTION – Share your story

Have you recently implemented an advising-related component? Investigated a new function? Figured out how to do something more simply, faster or more economically? Struggled to find a solution to a problem?

We’d love for you to share your story with us! One paragraph or many, send your thoughts Deanne Wright, your AA AG Communications Coordinator, at d4wright@ryerson.ca and we’ll see if we can feature your piece in our next newsletter or on the AA Blog.

Your contribution is a great step to help us form a stronger community.
