Session Title: Online quotation system for student fees and housing

The online quotation system is assisting our University students to access quotations from the student self-service portal. This newly added functionality assists students in understanding what their fees and housing costs will be for the current and following year. In South Africa the financial climate is very unsure, so it seems fair to give students a best understanding of what their fees would cost for a year. This will assist students to plan better and also try to get financial assistance if needed. During the course of a year, we get over 16,000 manual requests for quotations. In order to meet this obligation, we need to hire temporary staff. This function is now online at the click of a button. Students can access the page and request a quote. Students can print the quote or email the quote to a sponsor. The online quote is stored on the system and can be accessed at any time. We have developed management reports to manage all the requests and allow us to provide figures for future planning. The value added is breath taking because 3 months of manual work is done within a few minutes and no additional staff is required.
