In the two weeks before Alliance 2019 we asked our HEUG community to complete one last survey about their institutions’ upgrade to Campus Solutions 9.2. We also included a couple of questions about Student Cloud. There were 89 responses from 74 distinct institutions.
This was the third year of running this survey, and you can read the results for the previous two years at: https://www.heug.org/p/bl/ar/blogaid=3589 (2018) and https://www.heug.org/p/bl/ar/blogaid=3180 (2017). As with last year, we have compared responses from this years’ survey to those of the previous where there is a direct correlation. This year we added some options because some institutions have completed their upgrade and are upgrading to a newer PeopleTools version.
Now that we are in the final year of Campus Solutions 9.0 support, we expect that most institutions have completed their upgrade, and the survey shows that only 10% are still either in process with the upgrade or planning their upgrade. Impressively, one institution has already completed the upgrade to PeopleTools 8.57.

We are seeing that most of our institutions are staying current with PeopleTools.
The number of institutions that have adopted Fluid Navigation a little more than 58% at the time of the survey. We expected this number to go up in 2019 and an almost 20% increase in use of Fluid Navigation is a good indicator that an institution can indeed rapidly move to Fluid Navigation once the updgrade is completed.
If you have upgraded to Campus Solutions 9.2, do you use the Fluid Navigation?

The rest of the questions on Fluid reflect the progression of adoptions Fluid in our institutions. Now that we are on PUM Image 12, Oracle has delivered many more Fluid Components.

New Functionality and Configurations
Learning new functionality and configurations in the PeopleSoft 9.2 environment can be overwhelming. We asked what you want to learn about and we will look for institutions to share their knowledge as well as point to resources that can help you learn more. The answers were fairly similar to last year’s survey.

Elasticsearch
Elasticsearch Home Page (Doc ID 2205540.2)
Elasticsearch is the now the only search engine supported for PeopleSoft applications.
PeopleTools 8.55 you can run both SES and Elasticsearch simultaneously and do a live cutover. If you are on PeopleTools 8.56 or higher, you only option is to run Elasticsearch. The 2.3.2 version of Elasticsearch will be supported until July 2019, and after that Elasticsearch 6.1.2 or later will be the only supported version.
Elasticsearch is required to implement Fluid Class Search in Campus Solutions 9.2 and can be used as the search record for Fluid Components.
The question about the status of installing Elasticsearch last year and this year shows a large increase in adoption of Elasticsearch in our community. There were many presentations around installing and adoption Elasticsearch at Alliance 2018 and Alliance 2019 and we will continue to provide Webinars, blogs and resources for adopting Elasticsearch in this coming year.

We also asked the question about the current search engine used for Campus Solutions because there has not been any functionality requiring search and the results of the survey show that a third of the responders are not currently using any search engine for campus solutions.

Student Cloud (SaaS)
Finally, we added two questions about Student Cloud (SaaS) this year. Not surprisingly, the results show that nearly half of our institutions are open to considering a Student Cloud, but that only a little more than 10% are actively planning to move to a SaaS solution in the next 2-3 years. The answers are nearly the same in 2019 as they were in 2018.
