    Hi Everyone

Its time I got in touch and let you know what's been happening in my Quarterly Update:

    Mini-HEUG - Canberra, May 2016
Thanks to all those who organised, attended and participated in the Canberra mini-HEUG in May. We had over 80 attendees and some great feedback on the event. A big thanks to Rim El Kadi for organising. Rim has posted the presentations from this event, including my President's Update, to HEUG Online so if you missed it you can catch up. If you have any feedback or suggestions for improvement please send them my way!

As I highlighted at the mini-HEUG, 2016 is already a big year for ANZ HEUG members with both Gail White and Jason McIntyre being inducted into the Global Hall of Fame in Seattle and Maureen Bowen being awarded the Fay Gibbons Award in Canberra. Well-deserved for their great contributions!

Planning for Alliance Down Under is well underway with a number of planning calls having already taken place. A call for papers has gone out with a deadline for 9 September. Please talk to your colleagues about what your institutions might like to showcase at the GC. Registrations are also open so go to the website for more information and to start registering! https://www.heug.org/p/cm/ld/fid=1746

You can also keep tabs on progress for the event and smirk and my lame attempts at blogging https://www.heug.org/page/international-alliance-conferences

    Alliance 2017 - Vegas!
Speaking of conferences, Alliance 2017 has been launched. It will run February 27 - March 2 and it will be the 20th anniversary since the conference was first run. So naturally it just has to be in Vegas. Expect big things! http://www.alliance-conference.com/p/cm/ld/fid=1840

    Oracle Student Cloud
You might recall that Oracle recently put out a call for participation in a number of activities to support the design and deployment of their Student Cloud Solution. These activities were:

    * Design Review Council - Provide feedback on the design and development of the solutions; we plan quarterly design review meetings with appropriate expert(s) from your institution

    * Business Process Experts - Provide specific requirements and design ideas for innovative business process support; 25% FTE commitment from your institution with virtual and in-person meetings

    * Early Adopter - Expected to implement one or more Student Cloud products, with Oracle's support

I am pleased to announce that University of Sunshine Coast has been selected from our region to participate in the Design Review Council to ensure that HEUG community members from our end of the world are kept up to date on progress, and influence the direction of this initiative. Thanks to Jason McIntyre and Tony Reed for raising their hand for this.

    My move to UQ
As many of you have already heard I am leaving ANU at the end of July to take up a position at UQ at the end of August. I am pleased to let you know that UQ are keen for me to continue in my role as President of the ANZ HEUG - so you don't get rid of me that easily. I may be offline briefly (enjoy it while you can) but you will hear from me again from a uq.edu.au account so stay tuned!

    Cheers, Mark
    ANZ HEUG President
