    Hi Everyone!!

    ALLIANCE 2017

    [cid:image004.jpg@01D2A330.E07F9120]

Just a quick update from me post-Alliance 2017. Another great conference to mark the 20th Anniversary of the HEUG coming together to share experiences and ideas. With almost 4,000 in attendance it is an amazing opportunity to see what the rest of the world is doing with Oracle applications. ANZ had a great representation as always. I want to thanks those that participated in the Alliance Summit for Advisory Groups, and who presented at the conference. A big shout out to Marcia King and Michelle Nunn from Federation University in particular for their fantastic contributions.

The big news of the conference is that Oracle made an announcement about accelerating its development of the Student Management Cloud, now to be delivered in 2018. Along with this announcement was also the news that customers may wish to move directly from CS9.0 to the Cloud solution. Don't get too excited though! We were also told that the Student Management product would be focused on North American requirements initially. Meanwhile Oracle have committed that CS9.2 will continue to have support and a roadmap for enhancements, though there was some confused messages surrounding this commitment. This is critical for those of us where Cloud is not quite on the radar yet (nothing but blue skies!) or have to wait longer because the Cloud Solution may not meet our needs as a region straight away.

With this announcement by Oracle it's important that HEUG community members ask questions, make observations and express any concerns they may have - and important that there are global voices heard in this discussion. You will have seen that our new President, Jane Broad, had blogged about this a couple of times on HEUG Online and has asked for people to participate in a Forum to raise issues. There are no dumb questions here - the Board wants your feedback on what does this mean for your institution so please participate!!
