Hello Cheri, While we haven't built an AI Agent for this, we are using LLMs and Generative AI with our homegrown prompt engineering to create Design Specifications for various applications including PeopleSoft. In our experience, we find that all AI models (LLMs) fall short when it comes to understanding PeopleSoft applications, data structures and code whereas they do very well at general business processes (like Procure to Pay) and can suggest steps or actions based on best practices (when prompted correctly).
AI is still helpful because it shortens the time to get a draft written and allows us to collaborate on something that is more than just a strawman or a one line request or a thought in someone's mind. I would say that LLMs are currently getting us 50% of the way on average with these design documents and then the rest is human effort and experience and product expertise.
One of my friends recently posted something on LI which I think may be relevant here.
Anthropic recently shared their analysis of 1M+ real-world interactions and it shows a ๐.๐๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป between input complexity and output sophistication. Translation? Claude mirrors your cognitive depth rather than magically elevating basic requests.
This "cognitive exoskeleton" effect is huge. AI amplifies what you already have instead of creating capabilities from scratch. A skilled strategist gets exponentially more powerful. Someone asking basic questions gets basic answers. It's not about replacing humans with AI. It's about building the right collaboration patterns.
The future belongs to those who can architect these human-agent handoffs effectively.

Subject: AI agents to help create spec docs
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has created and AI agent to help with the creation of Spec documentation for customizations? We use Claude at Syracuse and was wondering if any one has done anything in this area?
