Copilot Studio Frustrations

    Hi all,

I have been testing something in Copilot Studio. I created an agent that reads incoming email and applies an Outlook category tag indicating which  staff member should handle the request. The agent is set up to do the following:

    1) Determine which staff member(s) from the APPROVED STAFF LIST below should handle the email.
    2) Call Update message to set the Categories field of the email to the assigned name(s).
    3) Call Create item to log the decision to the Inbox Tagger Audit Log SharePoint list.

I am in the process of evaluating and testing this thing and so far the fail rate is significant despite my lengthy and meticulous instructions. I've added two tools - one to assign the Outlook Category and the other to write to a SharePoint list (Create Item) which I want to use as an audit of all emails that have been tagged using the Agent. The list is not updating at all. And not from the 20 emails I have sent myself with a variety of test scenarios, only 5 actually get the correct Category.

I am not sure what the issue(s) is/are that are causing all this inconsistency and failure to create the items through the connectors I have set up. These are all the things I have checked so far:

    1) I open individual activities by clicking into the runs, look at the tool calls to see if the Update message succeeds. It does but the Create item to log the audit list does not. I get this ambiguous error though:

Sorry, something unexpected happened. We're looking into it. Error code: SystemError. Conversation ID: 8c88af44-b841-4768-9ebb-91079a9abcb5. Time (UTC): 5/25/2026 3:48:08 PM.

    2) I checked my user permissions and I do have the Premium Copilot license, which should allow me to set up those connectors.

My next move is to reach out to my local IT but I thought I'd try my luck here with this group. I am not asking you lovely folks for a fix because you'd need  a lot more information than is provided here. What I am asking is if anyone here has created a custom agent in Copilot Studio where they have tried to either do something with Outlook messages and/or updates to an existing SharePoint site? What issues did you encounter and how did you resolve them?

    Best,

    Anna
