Hi folks!
I am posting this thread on behalf of our CoP group member @Michael Williams from UConn. Michael gets the credit for this post. The CoP is cross-posting to the AI Innovators as well. We would love to hear from folks.

I am seeking to initiate a discussion regarding your institution's policy on the use of AI and large language model (LLM) tools. Currently, my institution has initiated a limited scale policy beginning with subscriptions to Copilot through the University's enterprise MS Office license.
Given the increasing role of AI/LLM tools in both academic and professional realms, I feel it is an important topic to collectively reflect upon as CoP members. Specifically, I would like to explore the following questions:
- What is your institution's policy on the use of AI/LLM tools?
- Is there an institution wide policy or is it specific to departments/organizations?
- In what ways are you currently integrating AI/LLM tools into your academic or professional activities?
- What are your thoughts on the limitations imposed by your institution regarding the use of these tools?
- Do you believe that AI/LLM tools could enhance/improve activities within your department/organization?
- Do you feel that it is imperative for an institution as a whole to familiarize itself with the use of AI/LLM tools in order to remain competitive amongst peers?
I strongly believe a shared understanding of these considerations and issues are essential as we navigate the use of AI tools within our communities.
I greatly appreciate your insights and welcome the opportunity to discuss this further.
Best,
Michael
