2016 Latin America HEUG Alliance to be held in Guadalajara, Mexico!

I recently had the pleasure of joining Pedro Creujeras and Cesar Hernandez from Universidad Panamericana for a future site visit in Guadalajara, Mexico.  Pedro, a former HEUG Board member and I have known each other for a number of years but this was the first opportunity I had to visit him in his home country.  I am very pleased to say that Guadalajara is an excellent location for this event to be held in late August 2016.

During our visit we were warmly welcomed by Dr. Juan de la Borbolla Rivero, the Rector of the Guadalajara campus.  Dr. Rivero took nearly an hour out of a very busy day which included his introduction of Nuevo Leone Governor-elect Jaime Heliodoro Rodríguez Calderón (aka El Bronco).  El Bronco is the first polictical independent to be elected Governor for that state.  Having the Rector take time out of his day to meet with us and to learn more about the HEUG was a testimony to the executive level commitment Pedro and Cesar have to host this event.

We spent the day touring the conference facilities on the campus.  We are fortunate to know that the facilities more than meet our needs in terms of size, technology and catering.  We also took some time to tour hotel facilities in Guadalajara several of which also meet the needs for the event.  We will be finalizing the decision on logistics in the coming months, but I was extremely pleased not only at the quality of the choices we have for venue, but of what a vibrant and clean city Guadalajara is.

Because of the location which is easily accessed by multiple airlines with direct flights this could be an opportunity to serve the many Latin America HEUG members, but also to allow members from the United States an opportunity to experience one of the HEUG's international events.

Working with Erica Allen as the lead event planner from Socious, Pedro and Cesar will be building their planning team in the coming months.  I am looking forward to the is event next August!
