I am very pleased to be able to attend and contribute to a new event being held in Qatar in 10 days. HEUG President Steve Hahn, HEUG Board Secretary, Todd Langille and I will present and work with schools in the region to further develop the community previously established by Dr. Abdulaziz al Fahaid and his colleagues from University of Dammam. The invitation to the meeting is listed below. I am sure we'll offer an update as to how the trip went in the near future.
Qatar University, University of Dammam, the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) and Oracle would like to invite you to attend the HEUG Meeting, November 4th – 6th, 2013 in Doha, Qatar. This event will be held at Qatar University, and provide information about the use of Oracle application products as well as establish a strong network between colleagues in the region. The event will also include presentations from the leaders of the Higher Education User Group to further inform on the benefits that the central HEUG provides and the importance of regional HEUG communities.
The first two days of the meeting will provide ideas and experiences on the adoption and effective use of Oracle applications, obtain updates on industry trends and the product and technology roadmap, and provide the opportunity to network with peer institutions and other business
parties.
This event will enable you to hear about Oracle’s Strategy for Higher Education from top Oracle Executives such as Cole Clark – Global Vice President Education & Research and Mark Armstrong – Vice President Higher Education Development, as well as meet the President of the
Higher Education User Group, Steve Hahn and its Executive Director, Lew Conner. In addition, there will be track (Student, Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resources and Technical) sessions which will include presentations from universities and discussions about common
Oracle application issues we are experiencing in the region.
Also, at this event the HEUG will discuss the continued organization and opportunity to be included in a user group that has been established for the Gulf Region. The recently organized group is a community of higher education institutions which have implemented, or are in the process of implementing, Oracle applications and are interested in collaborating and sharing with each other. This effort began in June of 2012 and continued in 2013, after the success of several meetings and discussions between HEUG and the universities of Dammam and Qatar.
A third day for the meeting has been scheduled to allow representative from your institution a chance to interact and discuss the ongoing organization of the Gulf Region group. This session will be led by Dammam University and Qatar University.
The Higher Education User Group (HEUG) recognizes that its members prefer to work with others who are geographically close to them and face similar issues. The HEUG Meeting in Qatar would provide an ideal opportunity to network with your colleagues from other institutions within the region and to share best practices.
