Be More with the HEUG!

By Jane Broad posted 09-12-2018 01:55 AM

Last week I read a HEUG blog, retweeted an Advisory Group tweet, and had an email exchange that so lifted my spirits that I wanted to share it with you all, and in doing so give a shout out to some of my favourite volunteers within the HEUG community, and also some new friends, who are doing awesome things, in the hope that this might inspire you!

Now apologies in advance to all of those equally amazing people who are also my friends but who are not mentioned here - I have no doubt that I will get around to blogging about you some day!

So the blog is the TRAGs blog about Cloud readiness - with some fabulous infographics!  It is succinct but powerful - a perfect conversation starter.  A big shout out to Nikki Gaertner Eaton (University of South Australia), and the ever fabulous Paul Matthews (University of Derby, UK) for some inspiring leadership of that Advisory Group.  It has already been followed up by a great blog on Shared Responsibility and the Cloud-Hosted Data Centre by Adam Wlad (University of Waterloo) - the TRAG are right on trend with this given that Tambellini Group's recent blog states that "90% of the institutions that selected new student systems chose cloud deployment"!

The tweet was the @CCPAG #Alliance19 multipurpose slideshow!  An introduction to the PAG members combined with a call to submit presentation proposals for Alliance - the CCPAG lead by the legendary Stu Churchill-Hoyer (now University of Wisconsin, Madison) is helping to set the bar high for Advisory Group/community engagement through their blogs, their white papers and, of course, their fun tweets!  Can't wait to see what their Community Session at Alliance holds!

The email exchange I referred to started with our fabulous new Board member Jo Ellen Denucci (Boise State University).  To every conversation, every email and every contribution Jo Ellen makes to a Board meeting, she brings such energy, enthusiasm and passion for her institution, her work and the HEUG!  Jo Ellen is helping our newest community of Cloud ERP members find their feet - whilst participating as a member of the community herself.  Today Jo Ellen emailed me about a conversation with another favourite person of mine Tracey Robey (also University of Derby!) who is throwing her hat into the ring to help Jo Ellen, having previously been an active member of our CRM PAG.  Jo Ellen was full of praise for Tracey and the email brightened my day so much that I HAD to contact Tracey myself!  Here's what she said:

"I am enjoying our crazy Oracle Cloud project and I have always supported the HEUG - I remember when I was first setting up CRM, the help I received from everyone was amazing.  I love that whole sharing experience."

The HEUG leadership across the Advisory Groups, the Committees and the Board is made up of energetic passionate people like Nikki, Paul, Jo Ellen and Tracey.  I hope you consider nominating yourself in the future or by just getting involved in the product community forums and join us in our mission to educate and advocate by sharing YOUR enthusiasm and your expertise!

Cheers!

YES the new Advisory Group Engagement is off to a wonderful start.  Keep on the look out for future engagement from all the Advisory Groups.  . Grateful to our Technical & Reporting & Campus Community Advisory Group for starting a friendly challenge to other Advisory Groups and your challenge was accepted!  The next few months are exciting times for the HEUG as we prepare our future.  Only a few days left to nominate yourself or someone for an Advisory Group, plus Session Submissions are open and waiting for your expertise.  The Board and HEUG members appreciate efforts from all our Advisory Groups!
