2021 HEUG Board Nominations Are Now Open!

By Mario Berry posted 11-11-2020 09:32 AM

The opportunity to both lead and serve has come once again for qualified HEUG volunteers! Each year, the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) elects new members to serve on the Board of Directors, representing both their home institution and their colleagues globally, as current Directors conclude their terms of service. This year the HEUG Board of Directors is looking to recruit five (5) candidates with a range of skills and attributes.
You should have:
  • Commitment to the mission & objectives of the HEUG
  • Board-level experience, ideally at a charity or company of similar size to the HEUG
  • Understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion
  • Willingness to act as an ambassador for the HEUG, fulfilling the duties and standards of conduct required of a board member of a Non-profit 501c3 Corporation
Required Experience:
We are looking for nominees to clearly demonstrate experience in at least one of these areas.
  • Business Administration & Operations (CFO, VCFA, CBO, CIO) – 2 seats
  • Technology & Cloud – 2 Seats
  • Non-US Representative (experience doing business in a different country/culture/language etc.) – 1 Seat
Preferred Expertise:
Additionally, successful nominees may bring experience in some of the following areas
  • Strategic & Fiscal Planning
  • Policy & Organizational Development & Planning
  • Analytical Skills
  • Project & Change Management
  • Research Management
You must be prepared to:
  • Attend at least two three-day board meetings away from your campus
  • Be actively involved in the Advisory Group Summit and the Alliance conference
  • Participate in monthly conference calls
Additionally, you may be expected to participate in committee and advisory group work, sometimes chairing workgroups or working on special projects. As a member of the HEUG Board representing our members, you and your institution will have direct access to decision-makers and executives from HEUG partners.
The time commitment as a first-year Board Member is certainly manageable within your current institutional responsibilities but can be significant so we ask that all nominees have the support of their institution prior to submitting for nomination.
If you would like to learn more about the Board of Directors elections process, please view the HEUG Standing Orders.
