PS Query & SQL

    Posted 16 hours ago

Okay, at my school, no one can write queries in PROD.  We write them in test instances and migrate them up via Phire.   Our PS Admins had the ability to delete queries.  I accidentally migrated private queries.  Had to rename them and make them public.   Our PS Admin couldn't delete them because she couldn't see it.  I know, it's private.  Is there a "I see all" security for queries so the PS Admins can  see and delete private queries?

    Hi Dana,

Yes, you can view all queries. There is a Query Administration page.

    Page:                     QRY_ADMIN

    Component:       QUERY_ADMIN

    Menu:                   QUERY_MANAGER

The navigation for CWU is Campus Solutions > PeopleTools > Utilities > Administration > Query Administration

You can run by predefined criteria (Image 1) or you can search by query name (Image 2). I my example I used a wildcard to find Central queries and that ended in V as these are private queries for us.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Dana,

Thank you, Lidia, for Sharing! Along the Same Lines, unfortunately it doesn't have a field in the search results that tells you It is public or Private.

Here are some ideas related to the Query administration, so please vote if you haven't already.

    Thank you

Ruby Nugent from the University of Michigan reached out to me and shared this tip with me:

"FYI - the Owner ID in the search results is blank for a public query." It is very useful if you are searching by  the option "Choose a predefined search"
and not by OwnerID (Perform Manual Search).

    Thank you for sharing, Ruby!

If the Owner ID field is blank, the query is public. If the Owner ID field has a UserID then you know who has it as a private query.

We've used this page to find private queries from former employees and make them accessible to current employees, either making them public or transferring ownership.
