I am always amazed to watch transitions in progress, particularly in organizations that understand their overall mission and goals. Good transition is much like the choreography during a relay race, watching a runner pass the baton to the next leg with a smoothness that belies the speed at which it happens. With the conclusion of my two terms as president of HEUG approaching, my entire team of vice presidents and officers is set to do that handoff to the incoming team. The attitude of the outgoing team is so reflective of HEUG's entire philosophy of helping each other to succeed. Everything that is happening involves giving the new team a running start, making certain the new execs are up to speed the moment they grab the baton and sprint away. Gives me a great feeling about the organization and the people you have in its leadership positions. Too many groups fall prey to pettiness at times like these. Not here...not the HEUG.
Congratulations to the newly approved Executive Officers of the HEUG. Under the leadership of our president-elect, Kari Branjord (University of Colorado), the board has endorsed the following as the new HEUG Executive team:
Vice President External (and Executive VP) - Ted Simpson (Maryland Institute College of Art)
Vice President Technology - Tina Thorstenson (Arizona State University)
Vice President Product - Paul Czarapata (Kentucky Community and Technical College System)
Vice President Communication and Membership - Jennifer Moesker (ROC van Twente - Netherlands)
Secretary - Victoria Janowiak (Grand Rapids Community College)
Treasurer - Deborah Mero - (University of Michigan)
The actual handover will occur at the Alliance conference. I know the HEUG will be in great hands...stan
