Data, Data everywhere! Admission data, grades, coursework, finances, housing, event attendance – we can easily suffocate in the massive amounts of data we have on our students, if it were ever in a single place. Knowing where to find it, parse it, and leverage that data into meaningful engagement programs is no easy task. The sessions I’m highlighting today will showcase key milestones and opportunities for student engagement, and even show how to assess, refine and automate data collection seamlessly to improve student outreach.
Join us for Oracle’s session on student data: “Data is your differentiator! Change everything you do, without accurate data you improve nothing.” Guiding the student through the student lifecycle takes a pragmatic approach to identify when, where and how to use data along their journey for the most impact. This will not be a Tech talk – it is about actions and tactics that professional staff can incorporate into their strategy. Oracle’s experience working across multiple universities has provided lessons learned and shows that a well-known brand isn’t necessary to attract, engage and retain the best students. This session will show how to identify the key data points needed to have the most impact, when to use them, how to create well received, hyper personalized and targeted messages, and how to construct a basic ROI to understand the effectiveness of your efforts.
Another session not to be missed: “Untangling the Knots: The Data & Systems Behind Student Engagement & Retention.” Engagement means different things at different places and no single system collects it all. Most institutions use multiple systems to capture student engagement data - making sense of the data to identify trends with retention and participation can involve lots of data manipulation and the creation of data visualizations in the attempt to tell a story. Identifying and "untangling" data from different external sources as well as PeopleSoft allows us to tell the story of student engagement and retention at this micro level.
To understand how leveraging student data can improve key processes for student retention, join us for “Using Oracle Policy Automation to Streamline, Digitise & Simplify Student Processes.” One institution is using Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) along with Oracle CX Cloud to revise and automate data collection to improve student retention. This session will describe their journey, from identifying the process, desired outcomes, through process evaluation and mapping, implementation, and process change communication. Three processes will be showcased: Direct admissions – assessing postgrad and internal transfer admissions; secondly, The Maths Diagnostic Test - choosing the right Mathematics subjects for success in first year; and finally, Reasonable Adjustment Plans(RAPs) for students with factors complicating study.
